Battling the Elements: Hauling Nuclear Fuel Containments

Heavy haul trucking isn’t just about moving freight—it’s about overcoming obstacles. A recent run from New Jersey to Arkansas put six skilled drivers to the test as they transported high-storm nuclear fuel containment units and their heavy-duty lids under brutal conditions.

The Load & Challenge

Each containment unit measured 12 feet wide and weighed 55,000 pounds on a seven-axle setup. The lids traveled separately on step decks and flatbeds. But the real challenge wasn’t just the weight—it was the high winds and relentless rain that followed the team for most of the trip.

The Road to Success

Fighting gusty crosswinds and low visibility, the drivers maintained careful spacing, adjusted speeds, and coordinated stops to stay on track. Communication and experience kept the convoy moving safely despite the hazardous conditions.

Mission Accomplished

Through skill and teamwork, the haul reached Arkansas on schedule, proving once again that in the world of heavy haul, perseverance moves freight—no matter the weather.
