Ten tanks. Each one 45 feet long, 13′ wide, and 12’6″ high. The mission: move them from New Jersey to our yard at 108 Plunkett Drive—and then from there, get every one of them to McKees Rocks, PA. It was no small task, and it took nearly the whole team to pull it off.
Johnny, Ryan Macsween, Ryan Moran, Hoggin, Gabby, and Ernie kicked things off, hauling the tanks into our yard. With ten total to move, several of them had to make the trip twice, burning up the miles but keeping things smooth and steady.
Once they arrived at Reinsfelder, Brian, Tank, and Hoggin took over. They ran the next leg, hauling each tank to McKees Rocks using stretch double-drop trailers opened to 50 feet. Loaded, each one came in at 110,000 lbs and stretched out to 50 feet long, 13 feet wide, and 14’8″ tall—making them oversized in just about every direction.
Navigating through McKees Rocks brought its own set of problems. The height alone made clearing some of the underpasses a real gamble. We had three of our service trucks and three in-house escorts out front, guiding the way and keeping things tight. Even with all hands on deck, we still had to bring out our yard truck to help clear one low bridge that nearly brought things to a halt.
It was a long weekend full of tight squeezes, repeat trips, and a lot of teamwork—but everyone stayed sharp and got the job done. Hauls like these are a reminder: sometimes the toughest miles are the ones closest to home.
